About the job
Technical Sales Engineer Hydraulics Western Switzerland
Bern - Full-time - by arrangement
You don’t just know hydraulics from the catalogue and feel just as comfortable with customers as you do in technical discussions?
Our client develops high-quality hydraulic and mechatronic solutions for demanding applications in over 70 industries. The range extends from hydropower and wind energy to industry and production, as well as applications in healthcare and rescue services, and manufacturers of work and transport vehicles. Wherever power, precision, and reliable technology are required, these solutions are used.
For the support and further development of the market in Western Switzerland, we are looking for an experienced technical sales engineer who understands customers, recognises potential, and develops convincing solutions from technical requirements.
What to expect
- You will look after existing customers in your sales area and purposefully develop the collaboration.
- You will acquire new customers and identify additional market and sales potential in Western Switzerland.
- You will advise customers on hydraulic components, hydraulic systems, and customised technical solutions.
- You will prepare technical and commercial offers and independently conduct price and contract negotiations.
- You will regularly plan and conduct customer appointments and be present in the market as a competent contact person.
- You will systematically record customer requirements and, together with the technical departments, translate these into concrete solutions.
- For complex tasks, you will work closely with engineering, development, and internal production sites.
- You will manage your sales territory independently and continuously develop customers, projects, and business opportunities.
What you bring
- You have a technical basic education and ideally further training in a technical or commercial field.
- You have practical knowledge of hydraulics, hydraulic components, and hydraulic systems and understand the relevant market.
- You bring experience in technical sales, sales, or business development.
- You can professionally capture, structure, and translate technical customer requirements into suitable solutions.
- Experience in requirements engineering and project management helps you confidently manage even demanding customer projects.
- You communicate convincingly in French and can negotiate in Swiss German. English skills are an advantage.
- You enjoy travelling and appreciate personal exchange with existing and potential customers.
Why you would fit
- You don’t just want to sell products but understand which technical solution truly helps your customer.
- You combine sound technical understanding with enthusiasm for consulting, acquisition, and long-term customer relationships.
- You recognise business opportunities and have the drive to further develop existing customers and win new ones.
- You work in an organised, reliable, and independent manner and keep an overview even with several ongoing projects.
- You approach people openly, present yourself confidently, and can convincingly convey technical and commercial arguments.
- You are looking for a position with a lot of personal responsibility, direct customer contact, and scope for shaping your sales area.
Onboarding & induction
Your entry begins with the technology. You will get to know the product portfolio, internal contacts, and the various applications of the hydraulic and mechatronic solutions. You will gain direct insight into the technical contexts and internal processes.
Subsequently, you will gradually grow into your sales territory. You will get to know existing customers, ongoing projects, and market potentials while simultaneously building contacts with engineering, development, and production. This way, you will quickly know which specialists to involve for demanding customer requirements.
With increasing product confidence, you will independently take over your territory. You will plan your customer appointments, develop new business opportunities, and become a reliable contact person for your customers for technical and commercial questions.
What is offered
- A varied sales position with a lot of personal responsibility and scope for shaping.
- A technically demanding product and solution portfolio for numerous industries and applications.
