Scientific Collaboration Partnerships & PSE

Partnerships & Networks: You identify and acquire companies, foundations, universities and other partners, build sustainable relationships and network the specialist unit with relevant national and international actors.

Project Development: You develop cooperation models and joint projects with a special focus on Private Sector Engagement (PSE) and mobilise additional funding, expertise, knowledge, innovation and networks.

Project Management: You take on the management of selected international projects and coordinate partners, implementation, reporting as well as monitoring and evaluation.

Conceptual Work: You further develop approaches for partnerships and PSE, prepare research, concepts and decision-making bases and support the strategic development of the specialist unit.

Reporting & Communication: You prepare specialist topics for political reporting, presentations, delegation visits and public appearances and contribute to public relations work.

Experience: You have at least three years of professional experience in international cooperation and experience in developing partnerships with companies, foundations or scientific institutions.

Personality: You think conceptually and in networks, recognise cooperation potentials and bring different actors together. You convince through initiative, communication skills and an independent, solution-oriented way of working.

Education: You have a master’s degree in international cooperation, sustainable development, economics or a related field. Further training in PSE, project or partnership management is an advantage.

Language: You have very good German and English skills, both spoken and written, good French skills as well as pronounced communication skills for working in a heterogeneous international environment.

The maintenance of regional, national and international relations forms the centre of the work of the External Relations and Location Marketing Department, which belongs to the Presidential Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. It is committed to effective marketing of the canton through various measures. Its goal is to build an international network with personalities from various fields and thus generate added value for Basel. These tasks serve to position the canton as an important location in international competition.

The External Relations and Location Marketing Department is also responsible for international cooperation (ICA) to reduce poverty and strengthen sustainable development in low- or middle-income countries. Since January 2026, ICA funding has been expanded. It includes contributions to projects and programmes of non-profit organisations, targeted cooperation as well as emergency aid and follows clear quality criteria regarding impact, efficiency, sustainability and transparency.
