As a Senior System Engineer - VMware/Veeam, you are primarily responsible for ensuring that complex IT platforms operate reliably, performantly, and securely. You manage demanding server, virtualisation, and data centre environments, implement technical solutions, and purposefully develop existing infrastructures. You work both in operational management and in infrastructure projects, take responsibility for technical matters, and find sustainable solutions to complex challenges.
Responsibilities:
You ensure the reliable operation and continuous optimisation of server, storage, and virtualisation platforms.
You administer and develop environments based on HPE, HPE VM Essentials, VMware, and Veeam.
You plan and implement technical adjustments, system expansions, and infrastructure migrations.
You analyse complex technical faults in 3rd level support, systematically isolate errors, and implement sustainable solutions.
You accompany data centre projects, technical rollouts, and the integration of new systems into existing environments.
You automate recurring processes and optimise operational processes, standards, and monitoring.
You document technical solutions and ensure that operational and infrastructure standards are sustainably maintained.
Qualifications:
A completed apprenticeship as an IT specialist EFZ, ideally supplemented by further training at HF, FH, or comparable level.
Several years of professional experience in system administration, in the data centre environment, or in operating complex IT infrastructures.
Good practical knowledge of HPE, VMware, Veeam, and virtualisation technologies.
Experience with server infrastructures, storage, backup, on-premises environments, and hybrid IT architectures.
Practical experience in migrations, system integrations, lifecycle management, and technical infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of patch and update management, automation, or scripting is a plus.
Very good German skills and good English skills in spoken and written form.
