Role:

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced and creatively skilled professional for design architecture, competition planning and handling demanding study assignments. You will independently develop innovative architectural concepts for new builds and conversions in the areas of residential construction, educational buildings, work environments, leisure and cultural buildings. The focus is on conceptual design planning, architectural design, competition handling as well as sensitive treatment of existing and listed buildings. The position offers a creative working environment with high design responsibility and the opportunity to co-shape demanding architectural projects from the initial design to a convincing competition presentation.

Responsibilities:

• Independent handling of architectural competitions and study assignments from task analysis to complete competition submission

• Development of innovative architectural concepts for residential buildings, schools, work environments, leisure and cultural buildings

• Conceptual design planning for new build and conversion projects with a focus on architectural quality, functionality and spatial design

• Development of design ideas in listed buildings taking into account historical building fabric and contemporary usage requirements

• Analysis of competition programmes and site conditions including examination of urban planning, functional and design framework conditions

• Development and evaluation of different design variants with elaboration of building volumes, floor plan concepts and spatial relationships

• Creation of competition and design plans including site plans, floor plans, sections, facades and conceptual representations

• Preparation of architectural visualisations and presentation materials to effectively convey design ideas and spatial concepts

• Development of material and design concepts with special attention to atmosphere, identity and architectural expression

• Interdisciplinary collaboration within the design team coordinating architectural, structural and design issues

• Presentation and discussion of architectural concepts with clear communication of design ideas using plans, images and models

• Quality assurance and further development of competition entries by checking design coherence, functional requirements and completeness of submission documents

Qualifications:

• Completed architecture degree from ETH or FH or a comparable recognised higher education qualification in architecture

• Proven professional experience in architectural competitions and study assignments with independent handling of demanding design tasks

• Strong design talent and high creative competence with a confident sense of architectural quality, spatial effect and proportions

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to translate complex tasks into convincing architectural solutions

• Experience in designing new builds and conversions of existing buildings, ideally with an interest in heritage conservation and sensitive handling of historic building fabric

• Very good skills in graphic representation and architectural presentation as well as confident use of common CAD, 3D and image editing programmes

• Independent, structured and creative working style with teamwork skills, communication strength and good German language skills in spoken and written form
