Role:

On behalf of a client, we are seeking an experienced professional as a BIM modeller / CAD designer for an established Swiss engineering and planning company specialising in underground construction, geotechnics and infrastructure planning. You will independently create and further develop sophisticated 3D models, CAD designs and digital planning bases for national infrastructure projects. The focus is on model-based project planning of tunnel structures, geotechnical constructions and material management facilities, as well as the structured preparation of model data for cost estimation, tendering and construction execution. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the further development of BIM standards, digital planning processes and modern CAD applications.

Responsibilities:

• BIM modelling and CAD design: Independently creating and editing precise 3D specialist models, project plans and construction details for underground construction, geotechnics and infrastructure projects

• Underground construction and tunnel planning: Modelling tunnel cross-sections, excavation geometries, support measures, linings and underground structures based on engineering specifications

• Geotechnical constructions: Creating 3D models and execution plans for excavation pits, support structures, anchors, pile foundations and ground stabilisation measures

• Material management and earthworks: Modelling excavation volumes, material flows, landfill and interim storage areas as well as terrain and landscape changes

• Model-based quantity and cost estimation: Preparing component quantities, volume calculations and model-based evaluations as a basis for cost estimates and quotations

• Tendering and specifications: Supporting project engineers in preparing costings, specifications and technical tender documents

• BIM data management: Structuring and maintaining component attributes, model properties, classifications and digital project information

• Project planning according to SIA: Further developing CAD plans and BIM models through the relevant planning phases from preliminary study to execution planning

• Interdisciplinary model coordination: Coordinating specialist models with civil engineers, geotechnicians, tunnel engineers and external specialist planners as well as supporting collision and plausibility checks

• CAD and BIM system support: Assisting in maintaining CAD templates, modelling standards, data structures and digital planning tools

• Digital process optimisation: Reviewing and introducing new BIM applications, modelling functions and automated workflows to improve planning quality

• Quality assurance and feasibility: Checking model geometries, plan statuses, data consistency and constructive details considering buildability

Qualifications:

• Completed training as a draughtsperson EFZ specialising in civil engineering or a degree as a civil engineer FH/ETH with a focus on structural civil engineering, civil engineering or geotechnics

• Several years of professional experience in CAD design and 3D modelling, preferably in underground construction, specialised civil engineering, infrastructure construction or geotechnics

• Very good user knowledge of CAD and modelling software, especially Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Revit, or comparable BIM applications

• Sound knowledge in creating and structuring BIM specialist models, including component attributes, model data and model-based quantity take-offs

• Knowledge of tunnel construction, geotechnical constructions, terrain modelling and material management as well as relevant Swiss SIA standards is an advantage

• Experience with digital planning processes, IFC data exchange and BIM coordination as well as interest in further developing modern modelling standards

• Very good German language skills in spoken and written form, French skills advantageous for cross-regional project coordination
