Role:

You take on the technical responsibility for core, access, and security networks that providers and customer environments rely on daily. The focus is on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and complex BGP architectures. As a Senior Routing & Security Engineer, you set technical standards and make architectural decisions with foresight. When things get critical, you are the authority who brings calm and depth to the analysis.

Responsibilities:

• You design scalable and highly available network architectures on Layer 2 and Layer 3 and further develop peering and routing concepts purposefully.

• For firewalling and network security, you design solutions with NAT, security zones, and thoughtful segmentation.

• Additionally, you design robust site-to-site and remote-access VPNs as well as cross-site connections.

• You lead network migrations and data centre interconnects and ensure the failover capability of business-critical services.

• You handle complex faults in 3rd-level support and analyse them down to the packet and protocol level.

• Furthermore, you evaluate traffic flows and latencies, accompany architecture reviews, and test new technologies in proofs of concept.

Qualifications:

• Several years of experience in network and security engineering distinguish you, preferably with a background in the carrier environment.

• You master TCP/IP with IPv4 and IPv6 confidently and understand route selection as well as routing policies in detail.

• Link aggregation, network segmentation, VLAN, and spanning tree are your craft, as are service provider services based on MPLS.

• Moreover, you know high-availability concepts for VPNs and firewalls and implement ACLs and security policies precisely.

• You systematically work your way to the cause using logs, routing tables, and Wireshark and keep a cool head even under pressure.

• Additionally, you bring experience with solutions from Cisco, Brocade, Fortinet, Ruckus, and/or Extreme and communicate confidently in German as well as clearly in English.
