The Funeral Services, Cemeteries and Crematorium of the City of Geneva (SPF) has the primary mission of providing, with dignity, funerals, burials and cremations for persons deceased within the territory of the City, the canton of Geneva, as well as any person deceased in Switzerland or abroad. Assistant or Assistant to the Mortuary Chambers at 100%
Your mission and responsibilities
- Welcome and inform families at the funeral centre reception and accompany them to the mortuary chamber.
- Ensure the presentation of the deceased by providing, if necessary, care to the bodies according to the wishes expressed by the families.
- Handle various administrative document follow-ups and assist with cleaning and maintenance of the facilities.
- As master of ceremonies, welcome and support families in the preparation, organisation and management of ceremonies.
- At the families’ request, read a text during the ceremony in addition to the usual announcements.
- Provide on-call duties and cover shifts at weekends and public holidays, according to a pre-established rota.
Your profile
- Hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee or an equivalent qualification, and have at least 5 years’ experience in a social, health or hospitality field.
- Be in excellent health and have no restrictions on lifting loads.
- Demonstrate good organisational skills and initiative.
- Be able to work in a team and show interpersonal skills, listening and empathy.
- Be capable of coping with an emotionally demanding environment.
- Be proficient in common computer software (Microsoft Office) and in French, both spoken and written.
- Be comfortable with public speaking and maintain a professional appearance.
- Hold a valid driving licence.
