Head of User Services (m/f/d)
The Archive for Contemporary History AfZ collects private estates and institutional archives on the history of Switzerland in the 20th and 21st centuries, which are of supraregional significance and document the history of Switzerland in a transnationally networked world. It complements the state archival holdings and provides researchers and private individuals access to multifaceted archival collections. The main focuses of the collection activities are politics, economy, and Jewish contemporary history.
The position starts on 1 October or by arrangement.
Job Description
- In this position, you are responsible for the lending system and user services of the Archive for Contemporary History at ETH Zurich
- Personnel deployment as well as training and guidance of the user services team and interns
- Approval and processing of access requests
- Collection of user service metrics and reporting
- Participation in the networking and mediation activities of the AfZ in archival and historical sciences
- Participation in the area of cataloguing, management of small cataloguing projects
Profile
- MA degree in contemporary history, ideally with subject knowledge in the three collection focuses of the AfZ
- At least three years of professional experience in an archive
- Good knowledge of various media types (AV media and written records)
- Good knowledge of the standards and norms of archival cataloguing and processing of collection material on different media
- Confident use of IT tools (administrative software and archival information systems)
- Enjoyment in contact with customers
- Very good German and English skills and editorial abilities; very good French skills desired
- Driving licence
- You are accustomed to precise and structured work
