Archive Staff Member: Infrastructure and Cultural Property Protection (m/f/d)
The Archive for Contemporary History AfZ collects private estates and institutional archives on the history of Switzerland in the 20th and 21st centuries, which are of supraregional significance and document the history of Switzerland in a transnationally networked world. It complements the state archival holdings and provides researchers and private individuals access to multifaceted archival collections. The focus of the collection activities is politics, economy, and Jewish contemporary history.
The position starts on 1 October or by arrangement.
Job Description
- In this position, you are responsible at the Archive for Contemporary History of ETH for the spatial infrastructure, for magazine supervision, and for the storage and safeguarding of cultural property (approximately 20% of the position)
- You participate in cataloguing (approximately 40% of the position)
- Your tasks include cooperation and networking, especially with ETH internal service providers and with the collections and archives of ETH
Profile
- MA degree (in history or a related cultural studies subject) or professional training in restoration/conservation and subsequent archival experience
- Professional experience in the infrastructure area of a GLAM institution
- You have initial experience in carrying out preservation measures on written materials and analogue AV media as well as updating emergency plans and managing damage events
- Interest in further training in the field of cultural property protection and Integrated Pest Management
- Very good linguistic expression skills
- Good to very good German, English, and French skills
- You are accustomed to precise, structured, and independent work
- Driving licence
