The Jenisch Museum Vevey is the second largest art museum in the canton of Vaud, renowned for its collections of drawings, prints and paintings. It notably houses the Cantonal Cabinet of Prints, rich with over 40,000 works, as well as reference collections in the field of drawing. Since 1897, the museum has combined conservation, research, exhibitions and mediation, creating a dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation.
In your role, you will be responsible, among other things, for the following main tasks:
- Welcoming, informing and guiding visitors about the exhibitions, activities and offerings of the institution
- Managing the ticket office and shop cash registers and promoting the sale of items
- Participating in the management of the shop and café (offering light meals and drinks) ensuring their smooth operation, the upkeep of the spaces, stock monitoring, orders and inventories
- Ensuring surveillance of the entrance hall, café and shop and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Answering telephone calls and handling requests sent electronically, such as activity registrations and various information requests
- Performing administrative tasks related to reception and museum operations, including visitor statistics
- Carrying out museum opening and closing procedures
This position requires:
- Training at CFC level or equivalent in the commercial, sales or tourism sector
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a museum institution, including cash register management
- Interest in culture and art history
- A strong passion for reception, service and contact with diverse audiences
- A collaborative and team-oriented spirit
- A sense of responsibility, diplomacy, proactivity and dynamism
- Fluency in French with good oral knowledge of English; knowledge of other languages is an asset
- Good command of common IT tools
This role involves irregular working hours, according to a schedule established in advance, approximately
1 weekend out of 3, public holidays, evenings during openings and special Thursdays, as well as occasional cover during absences or holidays within the team.
Availability for these hours is an integral part of the position. Furthermore, part of the holiday period is planned according to the museum’s closure periods.
