Role:

On behalf of a client, we are looking for an experienced specialist as a Project Manager Refrigeration Technology for a specialised Swiss engineering company focusing on industrial refrigeration technology, commercial refrigeration supply, and sustainable energy solutions. You will independently plan, design, and technically manage complex refrigeration systems for applications in the food industry, logistics, pharmaceutical sector, and retail. The focus is on the design of energy-efficient refrigeration systems, the use of natural refrigerants, as well as technical consulting and coordination of all project participants. The position combines demanding refrigeration system engineering, sustainable building technology, and interdisciplinary project management with flexible working models and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Independent project management and technical control of demanding refrigeration system projects from concept development through tendering to realisation and commissioning

• Planning and dimensioning of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems considering project-specific performance requirements and operating conditions

• Development of sustainable refrigeration system concepts with natural refrigerants, especially CO? (R744), ammonia (R717), and suitable hydrocarbons

• Execution of refrigeration technical calculations and system designs including cooling load calculation, component sizing, and hydraulic or refrigeration system optimisation

• Design of object-specific refrigeration solutions for food processing, cold and deep-freeze logistics, pharmaceutical applications, and retail businesses

• Preparation of technical planning and tender documents including system schematics, functional descriptions, specifications, and technical specifications

• Technical and economic project management with responsibility for project budgets, scheduling, quality assurance, and coordination of planning services

• Consulting of clients and industrial customers regarding energy efficiency, operational safety, lifecycle costs, and sustainable refrigeration supply

• Coordination of specialist planners, system suppliers, and executing companies as well as alignment of technical interfaces with building technology and building automation

• Integration of heat recovery and energy optimisation measures to improve the overall energy efficiency of refrigeration systems

• Support of technical execution and commissioning including functional tests, performance proofs, acceptance, and optimisation of system operation

• Ensuring compliance with relevant Swiss regulations and technical standards, especially SIA standards, SN EN 378, and applicable requirements for refrigerants and system safety

Qualifications:

• Completed technical basic training in refrigeration technology or building technology with further education as a technician HF building technology or engineer FH / bachelor in a relevant field

• Several years of professional experience in planning and designing refrigeration systems, ideally in an industrial or commercial environment

• Sound expertise in refrigeration technology and thermodynamic system design including cooling load calculation, component sizing, and system optimisation

• Experience with natural refrigerants, especially CO? and ammonia, as well as understanding of associated safety and system technical requirements

• Knowledge of energy-efficient refrigeration supply and heat recovery as well as relevant Swiss environmental regulations and technical standards

• Experience in technical project management and specialist coordination including tendering, supplier coordination, cost control, and customer consulting

• Very good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as confident use of digital planning, calculation, and project management tools
