About the job
About our client
Our client is a traditional, globally operating technology corporation and is regarded as a worldwide pioneer and market leader in the field of renewable energies. As a specialised partner for the modernisation, overhaul, and efficiency enhancement of large hydropower plants, the company combines the agility, short decision-making paths, and team spirit of a medium-sized structure (approx. 250 employees) at its Swiss locations with the economic stability and innovative strength of a global corporation.
Your mission
In this position, you are the technical brain for the hydraulic integrity and transient system stability of the plants. Through your calculations and simulations, you prevent pressure surges, ensure grid integration, and guarantee that large turbines go online faultlessly and safely even after complex modifications. Your impact: You secure Swiss and international energy supply for the coming decades.
Your responsibilities
Hydraulic design: You take on the hydraulic design and geometric dimensioning of water turbines for demanding refurbishment and new plant projects.
Transient simulation: You conduct complex transient system analyses and pressure surge calculations to guarantee the mechanical and hydraulic safety of the overall system.
Grid integration: Through precise stability analyses, you ensure that the plants are perfectly and reliably integrated into the power grids.
Feasibility studies: You develop innovative project designs as well as potential studies within the framework of power plant modernisations.
Interface competence: You provide specialist advice to the sales, project management, and commissioning departments at national and international levels.
Method development: You continuously develop the internal software tools and calculation methods for system analysis.
Your profile
Education: Completed studies as a mechanical engineer (FH / ETH / TU) with a focus on fluid mechanics, hydraulics, or a comparable field.
Expertise (Must-Have): Profound knowledge in the field of hydraulic machines (preferably large turbines) and the system structure of hydropower plants.
Simulation & analysis (Must-Have): Practical experience with transient system analyses and calculations in the field of fluid transients.
Languages (Must-Have): Business fluent German (at least C1 level for internal and external project coordination) as well as good English skills (B2).
Personality: Analytical sharpness, enjoyment of interdisciplinary issues, and a pronounced customer and service orientation.
The offer
Meaningfulness: A crisis-proof role in which you actively help shape the global energy transition.
Flexibility: Modern working time models (annual working hours) and lived home office options for a genuine work-life balance.
Security & benefits: Attractive employment conditions according to the Swiss industry collective agreement (Swissmem) as well as above-average employer contributions to the pension fund (pension advantage).
Working environment: An uncomplicated, open "du" culture at a centrally located site with excellent infrastructure.
