A large infrastructure. Clear standards. Room for technical development.
You enjoy working deeply with technology, think beyond individual systems, and want to help shape a powerful IT platform in the long term? Here you will find an extensive server landscape where standardisation and professional operation are central. You can apply your existing know-how purposefully, drive new technologies forward, and actively develop the architecture.
Responsibilities:
Linux and container platforms at the centre
You manage a server landscape with around 500 systems and ensure reliable, efficient operation.
You further develop the Linux infrastructure based on RHEL and Rocky Linux.
You work with Kubernetes and Rancher and support the advancement of modern container platforms.
You use established standards and well-thought-out management approaches to make operation efficient across the entire infrastructure.
Further develop virtualisation and storage
You administer and optimise VMware vSphere environments as well as Windows systems.
You bring your practical experience with Proxmox VE and enterprise storage solutions.
You engage with technical improvements, new operating models, and the further development of the existing platform.
Ensure stability and quality
You analyse complex faults, precisely identify causes, and implement sustainable corrections.
You improve operational processes and support the highest possible system availability.
You take on a share of the on-call duty within the team; due to the stable and standardised environment, extraordinary deployments are rare.
Bring new solutions into practice
You test new technologies and tools, conduct trials, and assess their benefits for the existing infrastructure.
You contribute your experience with cloud approaches and participate in the further development of the architecture.
You take on tasks in internal IT projects and document technical solutions so that they remain comprehensible for the entire team.
You also support client management if needed and contribute to collegial collaboration across various IT areas.
Qualifications:
Several years of professional experience in IT platform operation or generally Linux engineering.
Very good knowledge of Linux (RHEL/Rocky Linux), Kubernetes with Rancher, VMware vSphere, and Windows.
Initial solid practical experience with Proxmox VE and enterprise storage.
An independent, structured working style and the ability to understand complex technical contexts.
Enjoyment in learning additional technologies, sharing knowledge, and developing solutions together in a team.
Initial contact with cloud technologies or Cisco networks is welcome but not mandatory.
You communicate fluently and confidently in German and can coordinate technical topics in English, both spoken and written securely with international teams.
