What awaits you.

As a participant in the Career Starter programme in railway civil engineering, you will have the opportunity to successively hold two or three promotional positions of your choice. The first of these will allow you, over a period of five months, to acquire all the essential knowledge about the world of railway track and civil engineering. You can find more information about the programme here . During this programme, you will be part of a team of several participants. Over the months, you will have the opportunity to join several teams to discover the different professions of the railway. During the programme and depending on the promotional positions you hold, your workplace may vary between Olten, Zürich and Renens.

• Upon your arrival at SBB, you will participate in several courses and workshops allowing you to quickly acquire a solid foundation of railway knowledge.
• Quickly, you take part in projects and independently assume certain responsibilities in projects related to the railway track.
• You support your experienced colleagues and thus have the opportunity to have a concrete impact on the progress of projects and to learn from their experiences.
• The study of projects related to the railway track is an exciting speciality in the field of construction / civil engineering. A comprehensive introduction during the training is guaranteed.
• At the end of the programme and thanks to your overview, your network and the knowledge you will have acquired, you will create valuable foundations for future professional development.

What you bring.

• Particularly interested in the railway sector and the mobility of tomorrow, your motivation to take on new challenges is evident.
• You have an excellent ability to learn and enjoy taking responsibility and achieving ambitious goals.
• Your analytical skills, team spirit and positive attitude make you an essential member of a team.
• You hold a higher technical education, preferably a bachelor/master in civil engineering. This programme can also be addressed to anyone with higher education in geomatics, mechanical, electrical, architecture, or equivalent training.
• During the programme, you will work both in Romandy and German-speaking Switzerland. For this, you master French (level C1) and have a good knowledge of German (level B2 at the start of employment). Knowledge of Italian would be an asset.
