Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter, a brief curriculum vitae, recent extracts from the criminal record and debt enforcement office (dated less than one year).

- Lawyer’s diploma, licence or master’s degree in law and sufficient practical knowledge for the role
- Experience in the areas of the justice of the peace (cf. art. 58 LJ ) would be an advantage
- Active citizenship at the cantonal level. Foreign nationals must hold a settlement permit and have been domiciled in the canton for at least five years. Candidates must not be subject to bankruptcy proceedings, nor have been criminally convicted for acts incompatible with the role
- Proficiency in German with good knowledge of French
