Description

The Senior Accounting Manager role will ensure that all legal entities are provided with effective, efficient and high quality financial accounting and management information for internal/external reporting.

Principal accountabilities

  • Financial accounting activities assigned of all legal entities as per internalization plan
  • Global Intercompany accounting
  • Statutory reporting of Swiss legal entities and supervision of other countries statutory activities
  • Drives productivity improvements on a continuous basis and achieves operational excellence against defined benchmarks

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall monthly closing process of Group entities
  • Assume operational oversight of accounting and reporting operations for assigned legal entities and be responsible for accurate book-keeping at expected levels with a clear customer focus.
  • Responsible for statutory reporting.
  • Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure that accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines ; proactively communicate variances to Senior Management / Business by detailing key drivers leading to deviations
  • Manage the completion and review of monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, ensuring that they are robust and balances are accurately stated
  • Responsible for review of indirect taxes prepared by external accounting firms and collaboration with treasury department for timely filing and payment/reimbursement (as needed)
  • Make ongoing process improvements throughout the month to improve efficiency and effectiveness, as well as to address business/operational changes
  • Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, Treasury and Tax functions; ensure that the communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and immediate when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise
  • Ensure that all processes are in compliance. Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures and all assigned internal controls are performed timely

Supervise and coach direct reports and create a positive working environment, enhancing cross-training and employee development

Profile

  • Education
    • Bachelor in finance / accounting or business management
  • Experience
    • 8-10 years' experience in relevant finance/accounting roles
    • Experience in multinational life sciences company preferred
  • Skills
    • Strong knowledge of general accounting
    • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
    • Advanced excel skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
