The Position

The Sr. Director MDS Data Management Transformation is a member of the Data Management (DM) Leadership Team. This business transformation role leads an enterprise-wide transformation that orchestrates data as the center of a digital transformation. The leader is responsible to support Company priority projects as well as select, design, and deliver multiple, parallel projects in the Data Management organization that result in increased business value and significantly improved Data Governance and Quality. The projects will transform processes, technology, and the organization to orchestrate consistently correct E2E Data across the Enterprise. The successful candidate will directly supervise a team of 20+ people and collaborate closely with the Mondelēz resources related to Enterprise data solutions architecture and technology. S/he will have the responsibility to frame the value and have final say on the sequence of projects to be implemented.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the Data Transformation strategy, roadmap, design & delivery (adoption, user satisfaction & TCO). Ensures services and solutions are aligned with Mondelez Stakeholders. This role requires strong partnership, governance, and collaboration with Global Functional, Regional and Business Units (BUs) Leaders, internal and external technology partners as well as the other Technology and Experience teams of the MDS organization. Our Data solutions and capabilities are crucial to our growth agenda, so in addition to creating a strong core of Data Management Services, this role will also support Data needs of the Digital strategy with the potential for disruptive innovation in this space. This role will also serve as a catalyst to Vision 2030 for the Data Management organization.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Deliver the data transformation roadmap and meet the requirements of parallel and critical Enterprise initiatives on the required foundational data architecture standards.

▪ Lead the portfolio of Data Management projects, that leverage data as an asset to drive sustainable competitive advantage.

▪ Appoint project managers to the highest value transformations and company priority projects

▪ Ensure all aspects of value are considered in developing the data reference architecture and sequencing the transformations to step-change Data quality and flow across the enterprise.

▪ Partner with teams across the Local, Regional or Global organization to bring data technology enablers and identify priority transformation projects.

▪ Build and develop BUs data services solutions leveraging internal staff and external support from partnerships and/or alliances.

▪ Identify and document the key process area hierarchies of the business and implement data process solutions to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.

▪ Integrate capabilities in data, process, and technology to create considerable competitive advantage through data by reducing total costs and/or increasing in total margins.

▪ Develop and implement the data process improvement program of the BUs, including manufacturing operations.

▪ Design and implement data technologies and services, to create an integrated suite of foundational Data Management capabilities across the Enterprise.

▪ Act as an internal Data Management expert supporting the other members of MDS with the development of strategy and solution proposals.

▪ Encourage staff to think “outside in” and identify externally sourced innovative technologies which have the potential to enhance performance and secure competitive advantage.

▪ As part of the Portfolio, ensure robust & sustainable Data solutions which drive value (i.e. Application rationalization, process harmonization, data monetization and innovation) in conjunction with business needs.

▪ Control costs by ensuring transparency of costs and total costs of ownership as new projects are implemented.

▪ Deliver data advanced capabilities to M&A due diligence processes in the form of insights that reduce purchase risks and acquisition costs.

▪ Self-educate by gathering information and learnings from peer companies, conferences, and events to develop strategic solution roadmap for the Data Management area, taking emerging needs into account so a long-range plan and funding proposition can be worked out to be ready for future Data trends and challenges

Candidate Profile

We seek a dynamic, technology savvy and commercially oriented data professional with a strong track record leading the design and implementation of successful data transformation and technology strategies at the global level in a multi-national business. S/he will be familiar operating at the leading edge of technology innovation. This is a new position and s/he will be excited by the opportunity to drive business transformation and challenge and improve existing business models.

Knowledge, Experience and Education

▪10+ years Data Management / Data transformation experience in IT and business functions, ideally in the consumer goods industry

▪ Knowledge of business process & how data are leveraged to create business outcomes

▪ Proven experience developing and executing successful data technology and data architecture strategies that deliver sustainable earnings and a competitive advantage

▪ Sound SAP/ERP knowledge, preferably with SAP S/4 experience

▪ Knowledge of MDM/PIM/DAM Enterprise Solutions (i.e. SAP MDG, PIM Informatica, Adobe DAM or others) coupled with experience in implementing one of Industry-leading Data Management orchestration platforms and Intelligent Automation Tools (i.e. PEGA, BluePrism, WorkFusion, Appian among others) to transform and optimize Data Management processes.

▪ Experienced at identifying and evaluating innovative data technology companies and leading negotiations to conclude partnerships and/or alliances

▪ Degree in Data Management, IT, Computer Science or equivalent

▪ DAMA certifications or equivalent data certification is a plus!

▪ Familiar operating in large and complex multi-national organizations to create alignment for her/his strategic priorities across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

▪ Experience in working across functions with ability to interact effectively with and be credible with Senior leadership

▪ Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills with high levels of emotional intelligence

▪ Persistent and resilient in the pursuit of objectives; is comfortable with ambiguity; and confidently, manages risk and uncertainty; driven and results oriented and holds self and others accountable

▪ Agility to manage and influence in a virtual, remote, worldwide organization

Other Position Parameters

▪ The role reports to the Vice President, Data Management & Mondelēz Europe (MEU) and is a member of the MDS Extended Leadership Team.

▪ The post will be preferably located in our Bratislava (Slovakia) MEU Data Management or Zurich MEU Headquarter. Alternatively, role could be also located in the East Hannover NA Headquarter, Chicago Global HQ based on talent availability.

The responsibilities of this position are performed within the framework of a regional business model that is defined and managed by Mondelēz Europe GmbH, Switzerland.No Relocation support available
