Accountant

I'm recruiting an Accountant immediately available for a small not-for-profit organisation located in Geneva (4-month assignment).

Our client is a not-for-profit institution.

Description

The Accountant will have the following responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Accounting

• Perform daily bookkeeping in NetSuite, ensuring accounting is done in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with internal procedures and principles
• Record monthly payroll for the whole organisation

Grant Accounting and Compliance

• Perform grant bookings from contract recognition through to revenue recognition
• Provide support during grant audits, including preparation of documentation and liaison with auditors

Monthly and Year-End Closure

• Perform monthly accounting closure transactions and controls and prepare the related reports

Remote Training and Support

• Provide structured, hands-on remote training to the newly appointed accounting staff member in an office in another country
• Guide this colleague through internal accounting procedures, chart of accounts, and NetSuite workflows

Profile

The Accountant we are looking for should bring the following background and experience:

• A diploma and/or certification in Accounting
• At least 5 years of work experience in accounting
• Knowledge of analytical accounting and familiarity with Swiss GAAP Accounting norms
• Demonstrated strong skills in daily bookkeeping, accounting closure, internal controls required
• Experience in revenue recognition and audit support highly desirable
• Experience with NGO an asset
• Experience working with NetSuite mandatory
• Highly autonomous working style required
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to take initiative
• Ability to work under pressure
• Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); Fluent in French is an asset
