- EPFL's School of Engineering is now looking for an IT Support Technician to join their IT support team onsite at EPFL's Lausanne campus, with regular work (typically 1-2 days per week) at the EPFL Neuchâtel campus.
- IT support: You will join a small, collaborative IT support team with structured onboarding and team support, enabling you to deliver IT support to onsite and remote users either in person, or via emails, tickets, and calls, resolving both basic and progressively more complex issues.
- Hardware management: Assist clients in IT equipment purchasing and deployments (Windows, macOS, Linux) using fleet management and other tools. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
- Unified communications: Provide support for videoconferencing tools, rooms and events.
- IT classroom support: Set up and troubleshoot IT equipment and applications in IT classrooms.
- Software support and patch management: Install and configure software, troubleshoot application-related issues and manage IT software updates for end-user machines.
- Network access: Manage client access to the EPFL network and resolve connectivity issues.
- Documentation: Actively maintain the IT documentation - both internal and client facing - as part of the support team's responsibilities.
- IT projects: Participate in IT infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and faculty-wide rollouts.
- Security: Contribute to IT security by taking care of hardware and software lifecycle.
Required qualifications:
- Experience in IT support with a strong customer service approach.
- Familiarity with IT support ticket management systems (e.g. ServiceNow).
- Proficiency in deploying, managing and troubleshooting at least two of the following operating systems: Linux, macOS or Windows.
- Experience with IT hardware management (laptops, workstations, PC components).
- Experience with AV and videoconferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
- Knowledge of concepts such as Active Directory, LDAP, and GPO.
- Good knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. IP addressing, firewalls, port openings, VPN).
Nice-to-have qualifications:
- Experience in scripting (e.g. Linux: bash; or Windows: batch/powershell) or in programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, git).
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar industry best practices (incident / change management).

- Bachelors in Computer Science or CFC, with at least 3-5 years of working in the IT field.
- Customer-focused, easy to approach, calm and flexible mindset: you enjoy working with people.
- You enjoy troubleshooting problems and juggling different requests in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to support events occasionally outside regular hours.
- Fluent in French and English; verbal and written.
- Motivated, team-oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to continuous learning and team collaboration.

Further information:
- Work location: Primary work location is EPFL's Lausanne campus. The role requires presence also at EPFL Neuchâtel campus, typically 1-2 days per week, based on client demand; travel costs are compensated according to EPFL policy.
