Role:
As a Backup & Recovery Engineer, you are responsible for storage and backup infrastructures that must run quietly and reliably in the background. Your foundation is NetApp and Pure Storage, complemented by virtualised environments with VMware and KVM. Instead of routine, you will face real engineering questions around availability, data integrity, and growth. Those who enjoy delving deeply into systems and tracing solutions to their root cause will find their playground here.
Responsibilities:
You plan, build, and operate complex storage and backup landscapes for both physical and virtual systems.
You set up snapshots, replication, and disaster recovery (DR) and continuously optimise the associated processes.
You ensure that secured data remains protected from manipulation with immutable storage concepts based on WORM.
Furthermore, you drive migrations, hardware renewals, and firmware updates and keep the platforms technically up to date.
Additionally, you analyse bottlenecks in performance and capacity and sustainably resolve them with thorough root cause analysis.
You are also responsible for SAN components, tape libraries, and the further development of monitoring and capacity planning.
Qualifications:
You have at least 3 years of experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering.
Experience with enterprise storage is a given for you, ideally with NetApp, Pure Storage, or both.
You are confident in storage area network (SAN), NAS, and object storage and know how to provision volumes, LUNs, and storage pools cleanly.
You use protocols and functions such as NFS, S3, NDMP, and SnapLock purposefully.
Moreover, you understand concepts of retention, recovery, and high availability and are familiar with immutable backup.
You work in a structured and independent manner, keep a cool head in case of disruptions, and bring solid know-how in VMware and/or KVM.
