About the job
The GENEVA LIBRARY (BGE) is a service of the Department of Culture and Digital Transition. Founded in the 16th century, responsible for the cantonal legal deposit, it holds the oldest and most important heritage collection in French-speaking Switzerland, comprising notably manuscripts, books, maps, posters, scores, photographs and archives - important for the academic community and the general public of the region. The collections of the Geneva Library are spread across four sites located at Bastions, the Iconography Centre, La Musicale and Les Délices.
Taking care of a collection of more than 76,000 objects covering all continents and over 1,500 different cultures, the Geneva Ethnography Museum (MEG) has become a key venue in Geneva's cultural scene. Its exhibition programme and its multidisciplinary cultural and scientific programming highlight the collections as well as contemporary societal and environmental issues.
The Contemporary Art Fund (FMAC) of the City of Geneva was created in 1950. Currently holding more than 5,000 works, this public collection is enriched each year by new acquisitions from contemporary artists in the following fields: public space art, so-called "mobile" works (painting, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs, installations, etc.) and video works. This last corpus of nearly 1,700 pieces, available in the FMAC spaces in the Jonction Eco-district, is among the most important in Europe, notably thanks to the "André Iten Fund", inherited from the Centre for Contemporary Image (CIC) in 2009.
The BGE, MEG and FMAC participate in ProjNum, a cross-cutting large-scale digitisation project of municipal heritage collections led by the Department of Culture and Digital Transition (DCTN) alongside other cultural institutions of the City as well as support services. To contribute to the deployment of the ProjNum project, the BGE, MEG and FMAC are seeking several
