Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d)
Role:
From classic server administration to cloud transformation: this position offers a broad technical field for an Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys delving deeply into systems while simultaneously shaping modern IT architectures. The focus is on stable platforms, intelligent automation, and a continuously modernised infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Design and operation of a versatile IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud technologies
Administration of central Windows server and workstation environments
Building, optimisation, and lifecycle management of virtualised platforms
Support of Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud architectures
Analysis of infrastructure metrics and proactive optimisation of availability and performance
Development of standardised solutions for deployment, updates, and system configuration
Automation of administrative processes with PowerShell and modern management tools
Support of network, security, firewall, and communication platforms
Conducting root cause analyses for complex infrastructure issues
Planning and implementation of migrations, upgrades, and technical renewals
Evaluation of new technologies and integration of suitable solutions into productive operation
Creation of technical concepts and comprehensible system documentation
Support for IT projects related to cloud, security, workplace, and infrastructure
Technical advice for users and internal contacts
Qualifications:
Education in computer science or a comparable technical field
Practical experience as a system engineer, infrastructure engineer, or IT system technician
Very good knowledge of the Microsoft environment
Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
Good knowledge of virtualisation, ideally VMware
Understanding of TCP/IP networks, firewalls, and modern security concepts
Ideally experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructures
Good knowledge of PowerShell or strong motivation to use it purposefully
Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and technical lifecycle processes
Solution-oriented and independent working style
Interest in modern technologies such as cloud automation, zero trust, and infrastructure as code
