3*8 Shift Operations and Management Officer - Waste Recovery

What we will achieve together

Within the Energy and Industrial Ecology Department, you will join the Operations unit of the Cheneviers Plant, responsible for the technical and operational management 24/7, 365 days a year. This unit ensures the safe and efficient incineration of household and similar waste, while complying with strict environmental standards. It manages the operation of grate furnaces, combustion regulation, energy production (electricity and district heating), as well as the complete treatment of flue gases to minimise environmental impact. You will join a team of 6 colleagues and contribute to the optimal recovery of waste into energy and resources.

Your energy in the service of a sustainable Geneva

As part of your role, you will be specifically responsible for:

• Operating incineration, waste-to-energy recovery, and flue gas and water treatment facilities;
• Monitoring and ensuring the proper functioning of installations during regular rounds;
• Optimising the energy production of the Cheneviers plant;
• Ensuring regulatory compliance of environmental emissions;
• Participating in first-level troubleshooting of waste treatment and energy production installations.

Your personality and skills

You know how to collaborate effectively within a technical team, listen and share information. You are capable of working autonomously and demonstrate a good level of attention to detail. Dynamic, you learn quickly, anticipate and analyse situations, both in supervision and on site.

You possess in-depth knowledge of thermal and industrial equipment used for the thermal recovery of household waste.

You hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) in a technical or industrial field, preferably in mechanics, electromechanics or heating installation, or an equivalent qualification, with at least 2 years of professional experience. A boiler operator course or a federal thermist certificate is an asset.

This position involves continuous 3x8 shift work (night shifts, weekends and public holidays), frequent cover duties, as well as an environment exposed to various risks (dust, noise, temperature variations, etc.).
