Role:

A backup is only valuable if the restore works in an emergency. This certainty is what you create as a Senior System Engineer Storage in a demanding infrastructure. The focus is on enterprise platforms from NetApp and Pure Storage, which are closely integrated with VMware and KVM. You actively shape architectures and contribute your experience to technical decisions. This position is characterised by personal responsibility and technical depth.

Responsibilities:

• You design backup, restore, and retention concepts for physical and virtualised servers and complement them with tamper-proof immutable storage.

• You set up storage pools, volumes, LUNs, and shares and optimise them for utilisation and performance.

• Furthermore, you operate services such as NFS, S3, and NDMP and seamlessly integrate the storage systems into the virtualisation platforms.

• In case of issues related to data backup, performance, or capacity, you proceed methodically and find the root cause.

• Additionally, you are responsible for storage migrations, hardware replacements, and firmware upgrades throughout the entire lifecycle and manage SAN components as well as tape libraries.

• You continuously improve replication, disaster recovery processes, alerting, and capacity forecasts, thereby ensuring the availability of all secured data.

Qualifications:

• You have built a solid foundation in infrastructure, storage, or backup engineering over at least 3 years.

• You are experienced with enterprise storage. Experience with NetApp or Pure Storage is a clear advantage.

• You are familiar with Network Attached Storage (NAS), SAN, and object storage from practice and confidently provision filesystems and LUNs.

• Protection mechanisms such as WORM, immutable backups, and replication are as familiar to you as concepts for high availability.

• Furthermore, you are confident working with VMware or KVM and have already managed SAN switches and tape libraries.

• You tackle complex error patterns persistently and independently. You communicate clearly in German and read English technical documentation effortlessly.
