Research Chemist

We are currently recruiting for a Research Chemist on behalf of a leading international company in the agrochemical sector, based in Stein, AG, Switzerland.

This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic R&D environment, where you will contribute directly to the design and synthesis of new molecules from early discovery through to development.

Your responsibilities

As part of the Research Chemistry team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality compounds by combining hands-on laboratory work with scientific problem solving.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and executing synthetic routes to target molecules
• Performing organic synthesis independently and within a team
• Troubleshooting and optimizing reactions
• Conducting purification and structural analysis (e.g. chromatography, NMR, LC-MS)
• Ensuring full compliance with HSE standards and risk assessments
• Accurately documenting experimental work and results
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (analytical, automation, etc.)

Your profile

We are looking for a hands-on chemist with a strong foundation in synthetic organic chemistry:

• Master’s degree in Chemistry or apprenticeship + industrial experience
• Ideally 1–5 years of experience in organic synthesis
• Solid knowledge of:
  • Reaction design & retrosynthesis
  • Purification techniques
  • Structural elucidation
• Comfortable working in a lab-focused, fast-paced R&D environment
• Proactive, collaborative, and able to work independently
• Familiar with digital tools for chemistry data (a plus)

Additional requirements

• Fluent in English (mandatory)
• German is a plus

• Based in Switzerland or within commuting distance of Stein.
