About the job
The Building Insurance of the Canton of Schaffhausen insures buildings located in the canton as an independent public law entity and offers comprehensive coverage for fire and natural hazard damages. It provides information on insurance sums to owners and authorities, advises building owners on prevention matters, and is responsible for premium collection and asset management. Furthermore, the Cantonal Fire Police is affiliated with the Building Insurance, making its tasks part of the Building Insurance's responsibilities.

What to expect- Overall responsibility for the operational, personnel and strategic management of the Building Insurance Schaffhausen (GVSH) as well as the Cantonal Fire Police
- Further development of the organisation, processes and services considering legal, technological and societal developments
- Responsibility for strategy, financial planning, budgeting as well as business and accountability reports
- Leadership and development of employees and promotion of a goal-oriented and service-oriented corporate culture
- Management and support of projects in the areas of legislation, digitalisation, organisational development and risk management
- Advising and supporting the administrative commission as well as cooperation with cantonal authorities, municipalities, professional organisations and external partners
- Representation of the GVSH and the Cantonal Fire Police towards authorities, expert committees and the public
- Responsibility for selected claims and participation in legal appeal procedures
What you bring
- Completed studies in law; additional business administration training is an advantage
- or a higher business administration qualification
- Several years of leadership experience in a comparable environment, preferably in the public law or insurance-related sector
- Sound knowledge of public law and ideally insurance and liability law
- Experience in organisational development, project management and strategic corporate management
- Strong analytical and interconnected thinking skills as well as a structured and solution-oriented working style
- High communication and social competence as well as confident expression in spoken and written language
- Sense for political processes and diverse stakeholder groups
- Interest in issues related to insurance, construction, safety and risk management
- Confident demeanour, negotiation skills and enthusiasm for a responsible leadership role
