Job purpose
Provide technical leadership for the department and manage a team of technicians around four key missions:
1. Team management: Supervise and coordinate a team of technicians on a daily basis.
2. Educational support: Prepare, install and conduct practical experiments and demonstrations in class.
3. Operational management: Ensure maintenance, storage, repair and monitoring of equipment, materials and premises.
4. Innovation & Problem solving: Design and deploy concrete technical solutions adapted to the department’s challenges.

Your role and responsibilities
Team management & Collaboration:
- Work under the responsibility of the head of department and communicate with them regularly.
- Supervise and coordinate the technicians’ team on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with teachers to support their requests and inform technical services in case of issues requiring intervention.
Educational support & Laboratory safety:
- Manage common laboratory materials and ensure preparation of science practical work, with a particular focus on preparing products and materials for biology teaching in general sciences, at IB and Maturity levels.
- Provide technical support to teachers and students during their individual work for Extended Essays and internal assessments, ensuring safe operation of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and safety rules, including demonstrating equipment use and providing technical support directly in class.
- Assist with student supervision if necessary.
Operational management & Maintenance:
- Ensure development, installation, adjustment, cleaning, storage and removal of department equipment and materials.
- Carry out all reasonable maintenance work and ensure laboratories are tidy, pleasant and ready for use.
- Perform regular inventory of resources.
Administrative & Budget management:
- Manage the department’s allocated budget regarding stock management, orders, invoices, etc.
- Master data management and keep relevant records in computer systems.
- Maintain up-to-date records related to rental or loan of department facilities and equipment.
- Ensure all administrative tasks, checks and documentation are performed regularly, carefully and within deadlines.
Who we are looking for
Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree (Bac+5/Maîtrise) in chemistry or another scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the educational / science teaching sector.
- Strong language skills in French and English (spoken and written).
- Excellent command of IT tools (particularly Google Workspace / Apps environment).
- Experience or training in education is an asset.
Personal qualities:
- Strong sense of service, communication and responsibility.
- Leadership, team spirit and ability to work independently.
- Organisational skills and rigour in meeting deadlines.
