Role:
Data is only as valuable as its recoverability. As a Storage & Backup Engineer, you ensure that storage and backup infrastructures run reliably and function in an emergency. The focus is on enterprise platforms such as NetApp and Pure Storage. You help shape the environment technically and bring your experience in architecture, operation, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
You plan, implement, and operate storage platforms. You configure pools, volumes, LUNs, and shares and optimise their performance.
You implement and further develop backup, restore, and retention concepts for physical and virtual systems.
You manage services such as S3, NFS, NDMP, and replication as well as snapshot and disaster recovery processes (DR).
Furthermore, you integrate the systems into KVM and VMware environments and operate SAN components as well as tape libraries.
In case of faults, you analyse performance and capacity issues and conduct root cause analyses.
You are also responsible for migrations, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle measures and expand monitoring and capacity planning.
Qualifications:
You have at least 3 years of experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering.
You have practical knowledge of enterprise storage, ideally with NetApp or Pure Storage.
You understand NAS, SAN, and object storage architectures as well as provisioning, filesystems, and high availability.
Additionally, you master recovery concepts and protection mechanisms such as immutable backup and WORM (Write Once Read Many).
You are confident in virtualisation environments with VMware or KVM.
You also solve complex faults independently and keep an overview even under pressure.
