Role:
Data is only as valuable as its recoverability. As a Senior Backup Infrastructure Engineer, you shape the storage and backup architecture of a business-critical infrastructure based on NetApp and Pure Storage. Your decisions determine how quickly operations resume after a failure or cyberattack. We need someone who thinks in architectures and takes hands-on action in critical situations.
Responsibilities:
You design highly available and scalable architectures for SAN, NAS, and object storage including services for NFS, S3, and snapshots.
This includes backup, restore, and retention concepts that you secure against cyberattacks with immutable backups, WORM, and air-gap.
You plan replication and disaster recovery so that defined RPO and RTO targets (Recovery Point and Recovery Time Objective) are technically met.
When it gets critical, you lead technically through storage and recovery incidents and trace causes down to protocol and network level.
Furthermore, you lead platform renewals and data centre migrations and integrate storage cleanly with VMware and KVM.
You also evaluate new technologies in proofs of concept, set standards, and build monitoring and capacity planning.
Qualifications:
Several years of solid experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering form your foundation.
You have worked intensively and practically with at least one of the two enterprise platforms, ideally both.
You master provisioning of LUNs, volumes, and storage pools as well as NDMP, SnapLock, and storage replication.
Multipathing and redundant SAN connections are part of your daily routine. You are also familiar with tape libraries and long-term archiving.
Furthermore, you identify bottlenecks across host, network, and virtualisation and assess architectures also from a security perspective.
You work in a structured and solution-oriented manner, formulate precisely in German, and naturally use English in communication with manufacturers.
