Do you want to design high-performance IT platforms, optimise complex infrastructures, and ensure the availability of business-critical systems? In this role, you combine virtualisation, storage, and data backup into a stable, scalable infrastructure and drive the technical advancement of modern data centre environments.
Responsibilities:
Engineering and further development of high-performance server and virtualisation platforms based on VMware vSphere and ESXi
Planning and operation of highly available IT infrastructures for business-critical applications
Design and optimisation of storage architectures, SAN and NAS systems, as well as high-performance storage solutions
Development of reliable backup and recovery concepts including regular restore tests and restart procedures
Ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery through robust protection and restoration strategies
Analysis of complex performance issues at the hypervisor, storage, and operating system levels
Automation of recurring operational tasks with PowerShell, PowerCLI, or comparable scripting tools
Implementation of technical changes, lifecycle measures, firmware updates, and infrastructure migrations
Monitoring system availability and continuous optimisation of capacity, performance, and stability
Hardening the infrastructure through permission concepts, patch management, and modern security standards
Creation of technical architecture concepts, operating manuals, and comprehensible system documentation
Collaboration in the further development of hybrid infrastructures and the integration of modern cloud services
Qualifications:
Solid education in computer science, system engineering, or a comparable qualification
Several years of experience in engineering and operating complex IT infrastructures
Very good knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and virtual server environments
Extensive practical experience with backup software, recovery processes, and data backup concepts
Good knowledge of storage technologies, such as SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, or iSCSI
Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and performance optimisation
Experience with Windows and/or Linux server environments
Ideally knowledge of PowerShell, PowerCLI, or infrastructure automation
Analytical skills, a structured approach, and enthusiasm for technical challenges
High quality awareness and the ability to independently drive infrastructure topics forward
