School Patrol Team Leader (75%)

The city of Meyrin – with a staff of 950 members – stands out for its dynamism, multiculturalism, and the richness of its associative and economic fabric. A true urban centre, Meyrin combines sustainability and quality of life. The city has a population of nearly 27,500 people and offers nearly 33,000 jobs.

The public domain and parking department aims to ensure good coexistence among all users of public space. The team consists of public domain officers who oversee occupations and 25 school patrol officers who ensure safety around schools. To strengthen the school patrol unit, the city of Meyrin is looking for a:

Your missions:

• you ensure, through your preventive stance, the safety of children on their way to school, crossing at pedestrian crossings, at the start and end of classes;
• you are the close manager of a team of 25 school patrol officers and lead the team by embodying management based on responsibility, exemplary behaviour, and trust;

Your main activities:

• plan, organise, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of the patrol officers;
• manage staff development (recruitment, interviews, conflict management, etc.) and ensure their well-being;
• represent the school patrol unit and be the contact person for parents of schoolchildren and any other concerned public;
• cover for absent school patrol officers when necessary;
• contribute to the regular analysis of the school route safety activities;
• collaborate closely with public domain officers and the municipal police.

Hours and leave:

• part-time work at 75% (equivalent to 30 hours per week) spread from Monday to Friday except during school holidays.
  Mandatory presence from 6:30 am as well as during the four patrol time slots (07:30-08:30, 11:00-11:30, 13:10-14:05, 16:00-16:30);
• leave must be taken exclusively during school holidays.

Your profile:

• a significant first experience of at least one year in team management;
• due to split hours, residence in Meyrin or neighbouring municipalities is preferred;
• French as a native or bilingual language; very good oral and written skills;
• enthusiasm for outdoor fieldwork and ability to work in all weather conditions;
• team spirit, punctuality, sense of responsibility, positive attitude;
• good interpersonal skills, ability to gain support and manage conflicts;
• proficiency in MS Office tools;
• Federal VET Diploma or equivalent qualification. The holder will need to attend the school patrol training provided by the Education and Prevention Brigade of the Cantonal Police;
• due to contact with children required by this position, extracts from the criminal record, a debt enforcement office certificate, and a certificate of good conduct will be required.
