Role:

Data is only as secure as the architecture that protects it. As a Senior Storage Infrastructure Engineer, you design exactly this architecture for a mission-critical storage environment based on NetApp and Pure Storage. You have the final technical say in design, fault tolerance, and recovery. In critical situations, you keep an overview and lead the solution. Your judgement shapes which technologies will be used in the future.

Responsibilities:

• You develop scalable, high-performance, and highly available storage architectures for SAN, Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Object Storage.

• You define restore, backup, and retention concepts for central systems and secure backup data with WORM, air-gap, and immutable approaches.

• Additionally, you design replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery, consistently aligning them with the required RPO and RTO values.

• You take the lead in critical incidents, analyse logs, performance, and network paths, and identify the root cause.

• Furthermore, you plan lifecycle projects, platform changes, and data centre migrations, integrating VMware and KVM cleanly into the storage environment.

• You also develop monitoring and capacity concepts, test new technologies in proofs of concept, and define best practices.

Qualifications:

• You have at least five years of practical experience in infrastructure, backup, or storage engineering.

• You have worked extensively with enterprise platforms from leading manufacturers, ideally with both of the above.

• LUNs, provisioning, storage pools, and filesystems are your daily craft, as are NFS, S3, NDMP, and SnapLock.

• You are familiar not only theoretically but also practically with cyber recovery, long-term archiving, and tape libraries, having designed and operated them.

• Furthermore, you understand the interplay of servers, networks, virtualisation, and data centres and recognise bottlenecks across all levels.

• You think proactively, decide confidently, and represent your solutions in fluent German and English to manufacturers.
