About the job
Second art museum of the Canton of Vaud, the Jenisch Museum Vevey presents a rich programme of temporary exhibitions and a permanent collection of paintings, in a subtle dialogue between old and contemporary art. The museum also preserves an extraordinary collection of works on paper, in particular the Cantonal Cabinet of Prints, the Planque Foundation and the Oskar Kokoschka Foundation.
As a collections technician, under the responsibility of the senior collections technician and the head of the technical department, you collaborate with them as well as with the museum's conservation team. In this capacity, you are responsible, among other things, for the following main tasks:
- Ensuring the preventive conservation of the collections
- Carrying out packaging, framing and conservation supports
- Manufacturing and maintaining technical equipment related to the collections
- Participating in the installation and dismantling of exhibitions
- Managing the packing, transport and logistics of the works
- Ensuring the management of the workshop, storage and technical resources
- Contributing to exhibition projects in a collaborative and sustainable approach
This position requires:
- Federal VET Diploma in a technical profession or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a similar position, preferably in a museum or cultural institution
- Good knowledge of conservation standards and techniques
- Mastery of handling artworks and framing techniques
- Knowledge in the field of paper restoration is an asset
- Rigor, meticulousness, sense of responsibility, organisational skills and complete autonomy
- Adaptability and team spirit
- Ease with common computer tools
This role involves irregular working hours and a variable distribution of the activity rate, depending on the workload related to exhibitions.
