Lead IT System Engineer (m/f/d)

Role:
In this responsible position, you will take on the technical and personnel leadership of a system engineering team and ensure the stable operation of a modern, cross-site IT infrastructure. You combine operational technical responsibility with leadership, architectural work, and the further development of the IT landscape.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the stable operation of the IT infrastructure at all locations
Responsibility for server, network, storage, backup, and cloud environments
Operation and further development of Microsoft platforms with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Teams, and SharePoint
Further development of modern digital workplace and client management solutions
Responsibility for IT security topics in the infrastructure environment
Technical and personnel leadership of the IT system engineering team with four employees
Management and coordination of external service providers and technology partners
Analysis and resolution of complex faults as a technical escalation point
Planning and implementation of infrastructure, migration, and modernisation projects
Ensuring complete and up-to-date operational and system documentation
Supporting the IT manager in architecture, technology, and investment decisions
Qualifications:
Completed training in computer science or comparable qualification
At least ten years of professional experience as a system engineer or in a comparable infrastructure role
Experience in leading employees and external service providers is an advantage
Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Windows Server, and client management
Very good knowledge of networking, virtualisation, backup, and IT security
Several years of experience in operating complex and heterogeneous IT infrastructures
Ideally experience in an industrial, production, or mechanical engineering company
Entrepreneurial thinking as well as high service and customer orientation
Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented working style
Team-oriented doer personality with joy in operational work
Very good German and good English skills in spoken and written form
