Infrastructure Resilience Engineer (m/f/d)

Role:
When IT systems fail or data is lost, every minute counts. We are looking for a technically skilled individual who develops robust data backup concepts, optimises recovery processes, and secures critical IT platforms against failures and cyber threats. The focus is on modern backup architectures, automated operational processes, and a resilient infrastructure for emergencies.
Responsibilities:
Development and operation of powerful backup and recovery architectures for complex IT environments
Implementation and optimisation of data backup solutions such as Veeam Backup & Replication or comparable platforms
Design of recovery strategies for virtualised servers, databases, and business-critical applications
Establishment of protection mechanisms against ransomware, data manipulation, and unauthorised access
Implementation of immutable backup copies, for example with Immutable Storage, as well as appropriate access concepts
Planning and execution of restore tests, disaster recovery exercises, and restart procedures
Definition and verification of Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
Analysis and optimisation of backup windows, data transfers, storage capacities, and retention policies
Further development of storage and replication concepts to increase fault tolerance
Automation of backup and control processes with scripting and standardised workflows
Technical documentation and continuous improvement of emergency and recovery concepts
Qualifications:
Experience in system engineering, backup engineering, storage management, or infrastructure operations
Solid knowledge of backup and recovery technologies, ideally with Veeam or comparable solutions
Practical experience in virtualised environments and securing business-critical systems
Understanding of storage architectures, replication, and highly available infrastructures
Knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, and ransomware resilience
Experience with PowerShell or comparable tools for automating technical processes
Analytical thinking and a strong awareness of data integrity and operational security
Independent working style and enthusiasm for recognising and minimising technical risks early
