Part-time Intern - 1 day/week during the semester then 6 weeks full-time. Approximately a 7.5-month assignment
Salary: 1,500 /month based on full-time
As part of a bachelor thesis, the R&D intern contributes to the development of in-vitro test blocks used to evaluate the clinical performance of endodontic files manufactured in Ballaigues. The assignment involves designing, manufacturing, and characterising these epoxy resin blocks and developing reliable and repeatable production methods to meet advanced R&D testing needs (~1000 blocks/month). The intern works within the R&D team and in collaboration with clinical teams, respecting the quality and regulatory frameworks applicable to medical device development.
- Design and develop new test block geometries (instrument-specific shapes or reproducing clinical cases).
- Research and evaluate materials with properties close to biological conditions.
- Develop and stabilise manufacturing processes to achieve repeatable production (~1000 blocks/month).
- Characterise the blocks and validate their performance in the laboratory, in collaboration with R&D and clinical teams.
- Document methods, results, and recommendations as part of the bachelor thesis report.
Mandatory education currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in materials science, microtechnology, engineering, or equivalent field.
Experience (type and duration):
- No prior professional experience required; initial laboratory experience (practical work, academic projects) appreciated.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Fluent French and technical English (minimum A2).
- Basic knowledge of materials science and/or manufacturing processes (moulding, resins, machining).
- Rigor, autonomy, and analytical mindset for laboratory work and characterisation.
Proficiency in office software; CAD knowledge is an advantage
