Role:

Data is the backbone of modern companies. You ensure that business-critical systems are always protected, available, and reliably recoverable? You combine deep infrastructure knowledge with modern backup technology and want to develop resilient IT architectures? Here, demanding backup and recovery concepts, virtualisation, and cyber resilience are the focus.

Responsibilities:

• Design, engineering, and further development of modern backup and recovery architectures

• Technical responsibility for central data backup platforms in virtualised and hybrid IT environments

• Implementation and optimisation of backup solutions with Veeam, Commvault, or comparable technologies

• Development of holistic disaster recovery and business continuity concepts

• Ensuring defined Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

• Building and further developing immutable backup architectures (Immutable Backups)

• Implementation of modern cyber resilience strategies to protect against ransomware and data loss

• Planning and conducting regular restore and recovery tests

• Integration of backup solutions into VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud infrastructures

• Automation and optimisation of backup processes using PowerShell and scripting

• Monitoring and continuous improvement of backup performance, capacities, and data integrity

• Technical support for infrastructure transformations and data centre projects

Qualifications:

• Several years of experience in system engineering, backup engineering, or infrastructure engineering

• Very good knowledge of modern backup and recovery solutions, ideally Veeam Backup & Replication

• Experience with Commvault, Veritas, or comparable enterprise backup platforms is an advantage

• Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V

• Understanding of storage architectures, replication, and data management

• Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity, and recovery concepts

• Knowledge of immutable storage, air-gap strategies, and ransomware protection

• Good knowledge of Windows Server and ideally Linux

• Experience with PowerShell and automation of infrastructure processes

• Understanding of cloud backup and hybrid data backup architectures

• Analytical skills and a strong security awareness
