Role:

You ensure that business-critical data is always available and can be quickly restored in an emergency. As a Senior Storage Systems Engineer, you design an enterprise storage landscape around NetApp and Pure Storage and set the technical direction. Here, your experience counts more than any manual. Complex dependencies between storage, network, and virtualisation excite you rather than hold you back.

Responsibilities:

• You design the architecture of SAN, NAS, and object storage environments and define storage services for NFS, S3, NDMP, and SnapLock.

• For business-critical systems, you design backup and recovery architectures including retention and protect backups with immutable, WORM, and air-gap strategies.

• Furthermore, you create replication and disaster recovery concepts that reliably meet the agreed recovery point and recovery time objectives (RPO/RTO).

• In critical incidents, you take on the technical leadership and conduct root cause analyses down to protocol and performance levels.

• You drive storage and data centre migrations, integrate tape libraries and SAN components, and design data paths for VMware and KVM.

• Additionally, you set architecture standards, develop monitoring and capacity concepts, and test new technologies in proofs of concept.

Qualifications:

• You have deepened your expertise in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering over many years and now work at a senior level.

• Your practical experience with enterprise storage comes from operating and further developing large platforms, ideally from both mentioned manufacturers.

• You are confident navigating volumes, LUNs, storage pools, and filesystems and know multipathing and redundant SAN connections in detail.

• You implement cyber recovery concepts at the architecture level and bring know-how in tape-based long-term archiving.

• Moreover, you mentally connect virtualisation, servers, and networks into a whole and assess architectures based on availability, scalability, and security.

• You also impress with analytical depth and a clear stance, negotiate confidently in German, and manage effortlessly in English.
