Senior System Engineer (m/f/d)
Salary - CHF115,000 - 130,000Role:
Complex IT landscapes are your playground? This position is aimed at experienced infrastructure specialists who enjoy delving deeply into technical topics while acting as strategic contacts for customers. The focus is on modern system architectures, cyber security, virtualisation, networks, and the continuous automation of IT operations.
Responsibilities:
Development of future-proof infrastructure architectures for demanding customer environments
Technical responsibility for server, network, virtualisation, and security solutions
Design and optimisation of highly available virtualisation platforms
Support of transformations between classic data centre structures, private cloud, and public cloud
Conceptualisation of modern network architectures including segmentation and security
Implementation and optimisation of next-generation firewalls as well as endpoint security
Further development of backup, recovery, and business continuity concepts
Establishment of standardised and automated operational processes
Use of modern approaches such as infrastructure as code, monitoring, and proactive lifecycle management
Technical leadership or participation in infrastructure migrations and modernisation projects
Handling complex incidents and sustainable elimination of recurring root causes
Analysis of performance, availability, and security of existing platforms
Technical advice to decision-makers and IT managers
Development of new services and optimisation of existing managed service offerings
Assumption of a technical key role with the opportunity to specifically expand one’s own area of expertise
Qualifications:
Education or degree in computer science, systems engineering, or comparable practical experience
Several years of experience in engineering or operation of professional IT infrastructures
Confident handling of server and virtualisation technologies
Sound knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and modern network architectures
Practical experience in firewalling, endpoint protection, and IT security
Understanding of hybrid cloud environments and modern identity concepts
Ideally knowledge of technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, Microsoft 365, or Entra ID
Interest in PowerShell, automation, and infrastructure as code
Structured and analytical working style even with complex technical challenges
Strong customer and solution orientation
Enjoyment in conveying technical concepts understandably
Initiative, sense of responsibility, and high quality standards
Team spirit combined with the ability to independently drive technical topics forward
