Understand technology, design solutions, and successfully bring projects to completion: We are looking for a versatile Senior System Engineer who masters complex IT infrastructures and can simultaneously take responsibility for demanding technical projects.
Responsibilities:
Technical responsibility for modern on-premises and cloud infrastructures
Planning, building, and further developing server, virtualisation, network, and cloud platforms
Administration and engineering of Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, and VMware
Design of hybrid IT architectures and integration of cloud and data centre environments
Engineering of Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and central infrastructure services
Planning and optimisation of LAN, WAN, and firewall infrastructures
Operation and further development of virtualisation platforms with VMware
Automation of recurring operational and administrative tasks with PowerShell
Implementation of modern backup, recovery, and high availability concepts
Analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure issues at 2nd and 3rd level support
Participation in architectural decisions and technical evaluations
Management and implementation of demanding IT infrastructure projects
Creation of project plans, technical concepts, milestones, and effort estimates
Coordination of internal departments, external partners, and technical stakeholders
Management of project risks, dependencies, and priorities
Support of migrations, rollouts, and modernisation initiatives
Documentation of technical solutions, architecture, and operational processes
Continuous evaluation of new technologies such as Azure Arc, Microsoft Intune, Infrastructure as Code, Zero Trust, and automation
Qualifications:
Several years of experience as a System Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Cloud Engineer
Very good knowledge of Microsoft infrastructures
Solid experience with Azure and Entra ID
Good to very good knowledge of VMware and Windows Server
Solid know-how in network architectures, routing, switching, and firewalls
Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability
Good knowledge of PowerShell and ideally Infrastructure as Code
Experience with hybrid IT environments
Proven experience in planning and implementing IT projects
Understanding of classic and agile project methods such as ITIL, Scrum, or Kanban
Ability to present technical matters clearly to different stakeholder groups
Analytical thinking and strong troubleshooting skills
Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
Enjoyment in taking technical responsibility and actively driving projects forward
