System Engineer Virtualisation & Container (m/f/d)
Salary - CHF115,000 - 128,000What will the IT of the public sector look like tomorrow? Our Rocken partner is a central contact point for digital transformation in the public sector. From network infrastructures with state-of-the-art bandwidth to digital online counters and innovative signature solutions – projects that create real added value are developed here. As an ICT service provider, the company manages complex infrastructures, drives SAP transitions forward, and develops technology portfolios for a future-proof IT landscape. Practical orientation and continuous development shape everyday work. Projects are implemented in close coordination with internal and external partners – focusing on efficiency, security, and sustainability. Are you looking for a role with scope for creativity and social relevance? Our Rocken partner offers you exactly this perspective.
Role:
You don’t just want to operate individual systems but work on a central platform on which numerous important services are built? In this role, you will develop a modern on-premises infrastructure together with a specialised platform team. Virtualisation, containers, automation, and infrastructure as code are part of your daily routine, as are Linux, Windows, and modern monitoring.
Responsibilities:
You ensure that our on-premises platform is operated stably, securely, and efficiently.
You monitor systems, analyse complex faults, and take responsibility for their sustainable resolution in 2nd and 3rd level support.
You continuously operate and develop virtualisation environments with VMware or comparable technologies.
You actively work with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and other container technologies and support the expansion of our container platform.
You accompany migrations, renewals, and lifecycle measures within the platform infrastructure.
You manage Windows and Linux systems and ensure their reliable and standardised operation.
You automate recurring tasks with PowerShell, Ansible/AWX, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
You consistently develop the infrastructure towards infrastructure as code.
You design monitoring and observability solutions, further develop alerts and dashboards, and create transparency about the platform’s condition.
You contribute your technical expertise to projects and strategic developments of the platform team.
You work closely with internal departments, other IT teams, and external technology partners.
You ensure that operational processes and technical documentation remain current and comprehensible.
Qualifications:
You have completed training in computer science with further education at HF, FH level, or a comparable qualification.
You bring several years of experience as a system engineer, platform engineer, or in a comparable infrastructure role.
You have solid knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Proxmox VE, or similar platforms.
You have good knowledge of Windows Server and Linux.
Ideally, you have already worked with Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, or Docker or want to develop specifically in this environment.
You bring experience in automation with PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, or comparable technologies.
You understand infrastructure as code not as a trend but as an important part of modern infrastructure work.
You are interested in monitoring, observability, and proactive operational models.
You work conscientiously, structured, and proactively.
You take responsibility for your topics and communicate confidently with different stakeholders.
You have very good German skills and understand Swiss German.
