Role:

You take on the technical responsibility for a storage and backup landscape on which business-critical systems rely every day. As a Senior Backup & Archiving Engineer, you design architectures around NetApp and Pure Storage. Your design decisions have an impact far beyond the next project. The focus is on availability, performance, and recovery that works even under pressure. In critical disruptions, you are the technical authority that everyone looks to.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the architecture of Storage Area Network (SAN), NAS, and Object Storage, aligning them for high availability and growth.

• For VMware, KVM, and other virtualisation platforms, you design data paths and storage connections.

• Furthermore, you define recovery architectures with snapshots, replication, and disaster recovery that meet clear RPO and RTO requirements.

• You protect backup data with immutable, WORM, and air-gap strategies and set retention rules.

• You independently plan complex migrations, lifecycle projects, and the integration of tape libraries. You also further develop monitoring and capacity concepts.

• Additionally, you lead root cause analyses in critical disruptions, evaluate new technologies, and provide architectural guidelines and best practices.

Qualifications:

• You have many years of experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering.

• You are familiar with at least one of the platforms NetApp or Pure Storage through intensive hands-on work, preferably both.

• You confidently use protocols and functions such as NFS, S3, NDMP, and SnapLock as well as LUNs, volumes, storage pools, and filesystems.

• You think about cyber recovery at the architectural level and combine immutable backup, air-gap, and long-term archiving into a coherent concept.

• You have a deep understanding of multipathing, redundancy, and the dependencies between storage, network, server, and virtualisation.

• Moreover, you tackle performance issues with perseverance and a clear head, communicate fluently in German, and navigate English technical documentation with ease.
