You think about infrastructure holistically and want to develop systems that function reliably even during failures, high loads, or cyberattacks? Here, modern platform technologies, intelligent data backup, and automated operational processes are the focus. An exciting task for IT specialists who combine stability with technical innovation.
Responsibilities:
Design and operation of robust infrastructure platforms for virtual and physical server landscapes
Further development of VMware-based platforms as well as optimisation of resources, availability, and system performance
Design of scalable storage architectures for different requirements regarding capacity, performance, and fault tolerance
Establishment and optimisation of multi-tier backup strategies according to the 3-2-1 principle and modern cyber resilience approaches
Implementation and verification of recovery concepts for rapid restoration of critical systems and data
Development of disaster recovery scenarios including restart tests and documented emergency procedures
Analysis and resolution of complex faults within the infrastructure, virtualisation, and storage layers
Automation of administrative tasks and standardisation of recurring operational processes
Execution of system updates, migrations, platform changes, and technical modernisation projects
Establishment of monitoring and capacity management for early detection of bottlenecks
Implementation of security measures such as hardened backup environments, role-based permissions, and protected recovery points
Creation of technical concepts and continuous improvement of operational quality
Qualifications:
Professional training in the IT field or equivalent practical qualification
Several years of experience in system engineering, infrastructure administration, or platform operation
Solid knowledge of virtualisation technologies, ideally VMware vSphere and ESXi
Experience with backup and recovery solutions, for example Veeam or comparable platforms
Sound understanding of storage systems, SAN/NAS, data replication, and recovery procedures
Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity
Experience with server operating systems, network basics, and IT security concepts
Ideally practical experience in scripting, infrastructure automation, or infrastructure as code
Interest in cyber resilience, immutable backups, and modern protection mechanisms against ransomware
Independent, solution-oriented working style and enthusiasm for continuous technical improvement
