Innovation Scientist (Postdoc, Chemist), 100% (m/f/d)
Duration 12 months with possibility of extension.

Your tasks
We are seeking a committed and research-strong individual with a pronounced hands-on mentality. Reporting directly to the team leader of lipid development, you will take on the development and practical implementation of the synthesis of novel lipids and related molecular classes to expand our lipid portfolio for pharmaceutical applications.
- Independent development of novel lipids and related molecular classes from route finding through synthesis and process development to chromatographic purification (MPLC, preparative HPLC), isolation, and scaling in the 10-100g range
- Close collaboration with all involved departments to successfully implement development projects
- Introducing new, creative synthesis methods and concepts; participation in scientific collaborations with external partners is desired
- Responsible for the timely preparation of all necessary documentation (technical manufacturing and status reports, etc.)
- Communication of all technical aspects to internal stakeholders.
Your profile
- Completed PhD in organic chemistry no longer than 3 years ago
- Broad knowledge and practical experience in the synthesis chemistry of complex organic molecules and solid basic knowledge in physical chemistry. Knowledge in lipid chemistry, peptide chemistry, or related special fields is an advantage
- Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and independently develop new synthesis routes
- Proven ability to independently identify, analyse, and pragmatically solve complex synthesis and purification problems
- Scientific curiosity with a hands-on mentality and enjoyment of independent experimental work
- Enjoyment of practical laboratory work, as well as conducting syntheses, work-ups, and purifications in the 10-100g range
- Good analytical skills, especially in NMR, HPLC, and LC-MS, and interpretation of analytical data sets. Experience with CAD detectors is an advantage
- High degree of initiative and the ability to largely drive development projects independently
- Excellent analytical thinking and quick comprehension
- Careful documentation of experiments, independent preparation of technical reports
- Structured evaluation and presentation of results
- Teamwork, proactive action, and very independent and committed working style
- Communication skills, process-oriented thinking and acting
- Excellent German and English skills.
