The Digital & Technology department is responsible for the control and management of the information systems of the Biel Hospital Centre and its subsidiaries in line with the institution's strategy. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an ICT Technical Architect / ICT System Engineer, 90-100%, to start immediately or by arrangement.

Your tasks – our position
Planning & Engineering (Build)
- Forward-looking and careful planning of infrastructure changes, essential to avoid operational interruptions and exclude risks to patient care safety.
- Design and definition of the target architecture for virtualisation, storage, backup, Windows and Linux infrastructures.
- Development of transition and migration plans for the further development of infrastructures.
- Creation of technical specifications and management of tender procedures (comparative analysis of vendor offers, recommendations).
- Evaluation and introduction of new technologies and infrastructure components.
- Participation in cybersecurity meetings as a technical expert, responsible for the concrete implementation of recommendations on site.
- Leadership and coordination of technical infrastructure and virtualisation projects, from design to commissioning.
Operation & Further Development (Run)
- Monitoring and management of data centres and central infrastructures.
- Operation and continuous improvement of server and virtualisation solutions (Windows, Linux, VMware vSphere Suite, vCenter, ESXi).
- Control and management of backup solutions on site and in the cloud (VEEAM Backup Suite, Veeam for O365).
- Design and management of storage solutions (Cisco, Pure Storage, DELL, EMC).
- Coordination with the network team (Networks) to integrate requirements into server and virtualisation infrastructures.
- Analysis and sustainable resolution of faults (Level 2 and 3).
- Coordination and implementation of measures in case of faults or problems.
- Participation in on-call duty according to the duty roster.
Documentation & Quality
- Definition and maintenance of documentation standards for infrastructures and projects.
- Knowledge transfer and training of team members.
- Creation and maintenance of detailed infrastructure documentation in German or French.
- Creation and maintenance of technical documentation in English.
- Concrete implementation of cybersecurity recommendations taking into account technical and operational conditions.
Your skills – our requirements
- University or college degree in computer science or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Proven experience in system architecture or in the field of ICT platforms, ideally in a hospital environment.
- Mastery of virtualisation technologies (VMware vSphere Suite, vCenter, ESXi) as well as storage and backup solutions (Veeam, Cisco, Pure Storage, DELL/EMC).
- Sound knowledge in the administration of Windows and Linux servers.
- Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure projects, including leading tenders and creating migration plans.
- Proven experience in automating IT processes using PowerShell.
- Analytical thinking, structured working method and holistic overview.
- Care, reliability and sense of responsibility.
- Independent working with simultaneous service orientation and team spirit.
- Technical leadership skills, ability to define a vision and drive change.
- Native language: German or French, with good knowledge of the other language.
- Intermediate knowledge of technical English.
