An internationally active technology company develops and operates business-critical messaging and communication platforms. To expand the Infrastructure & Network Engineering team, we are looking for an experienced individual with a focus on telecommunications connectivity, networking, and Linux infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
- Operation and maintenance of SMPP connections with customers, carriers, and mobile network operators
- Operation and support of SS7 and SIGTRAN connections with external telecommunications partners
- Analysis and resolution of faults at protocol and connectivity level
- Support with onboarding, testing, and activation of new SMPP and SS7/SIGTRAN connections
- Troubleshooting SMPP, SCTP, M3UA, and other communication and session issues
- Operation and further development of data centre, office, and site networks based on Cisco technologies
- Administration of firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, NAT, and network segmentation
- Support with BGP routing, internet connectivity, IP address management, and external partner connections
- Analysis of routing, latency, packet loss, DNS, and firewall issues using tools such as Wireshark
- Operation and further development of virtualised infrastructures with Proxmox, Linux, Ceph, and ZFS
- Administration and troubleshooting of Linux systems as well as central infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and certificates
- Support with backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery
- Contribution to documentation and on-call duty
Our Requirements
- Completed training or further education in computer science, system engineering, or networking, e.g. computer scientist EFZ, ICT system and network technician, or comparable qualification
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP and modern network and communication concepts
- Practical experience with Linux systems and structured technical troubleshooting
- Experience with Wireshark or comparable packet analysis tools
- Ideally experience in the telecommunications environment as well as with SMPP, SS7, or SIGTRAN
- Knowledge of SCTP, M3UA, or comparable protocols is an advantage
- Good knowledge of switching, routing, VLAN, NAT, DNS, and network segmentation
- Experience with firewalls and VPNs, ideally Cisco and/or Palo Alto
- Knowledge of BGP and internet edge routing is an advantage
- Experience with virtualisation solutions such as Proxmox, VMware, or comparable technologies
- Knowledge of storage technologies such as Ceph or ZFS as well as experience with server hardware is an advantage
- Independent, solution-oriented, and structured working style
- Strong team and communication skills as well as high personal responsibility
- Very good English skills; German skills are a plus
- Residence in Switzerland
