Investment Counsellor

The Investment Counsellor Team is responsible for the positioning and delivery of investment solutions to clients and Client Relationship Officers offering appropriate investment solutions to clients, and enhancing client relationships and profitability.

Main responsibilities


  • Responsibilities include but will not be limited to: working directly with clients and partnering with Client Relationship Officers, being accountable for assessing investment needs based on risk profile, developing a comprehensive investment strategy, coordinating sales and execution against that strategy, and monitoring performance and appropriateness of the client’s overall investment portfolio.

  • Create investment proposals appropriate to each client with appropriate products and services, adjusting portfolios to client’s risk appetite, needs and market conditions.

  • Be proactive and in regular contact with clients and Client Relationship Officers to inform them of the markets and portfolio evolution as well as Bank’s investment ideas and opportunities.

  • Provide input and support for the development of new business initiatives and product enhancement. 

  • Promote discretionary mandates.

  • Contribute to the increase of clients’ share of wallet.

  • Comply with all internal and external regulations and procedures.

  • Participate and provide input to any Bank’s initiatives whenever needed.

Skills and experience


  • Experience working in investment advisory/ portfolio management.

  • Extensive knowledge of private banking business (onshore and offshore), and competitive and regulatory environment.

  • Client-focused, with strong sales, analytic, technical, teamwork and relationship building skills.

  • Strong negotiation, complex problem resolution, communication and presentation (written and oral) skills.

  • Maintain and build networks, collaborate across teams.

  • Pro-active, performance driven.

  • Sound judgement, keen sense of urgency, and high level of professional and personal integrity.

  • CFA or equivalent preferred.

  • Fluent in English and French. Knowledge of other languages a plus.
