The School of Practical Arts at EHL is dedicated to hands-on education in the hospitality arts, combining operational expertise with excellence. Given the changing landscape of digital education and the importance that the hands-on expertise of the SPA segment is taking on across the EHL Group organization, we are looking for a candidate who has a strong pedagogical mastery and vision for the development and future of our program portfolio. The candidate must be passionate about pedagogy that relates to the Professional and Vocational side of the Hospitality business, about innovation and excellence with an entrepreneurial spirit and supporting the growth of our students and the faculty with dedication, empathy and insight. In addition, he/she must demonstrate strong leadership skills, embodying EHL's leadership principles, and excellent interpersonal skills to foster and nurture collaboration between members of our faculty, industry and educational partners.
The mission of the Associate Dean of the EHL School of Practical Arts – Lausanne Campus, supported by the AP & Crem Programs Manager and the SPA Academic Manager, is to oversee the development, design, assessment, and continuous improvement of the AP, Crem, and other international curriculums. This role ensures the coherence and quality of each program, aligning Global Learning Outcomes (GLOs) for each subject and semester, and for the programs as a whole, while ensuring their integration with UGS & GS. The Associate Dean provides valuable input into strategic decisions that impact various programs and shares best practices and processes used inthe undergraduate programs with the CAO, facilitating the rollout of the undergraduate curriculum across other campuses.
What will you do?
- Manages the AP and Crem Coordination team, overseeing all administrative aspects of various activities, including grades, absences, and class representative meetings.
- Collaborates closely with the SPA Academic Manager.
- Identifies HR needs (faculty), leads the recruitment of new faculty and staff for the programs, and supervises resources. Reports directly to the Dean of SPA for decisions and portfolio strategies specific to the EHL Lausanne campus.
- Develops and manages the academic budget for the Lausanne campus, including items such as Trousseaux, Introweek, teaching materials, etc.
- Ensures that national and international academic standards align with accreditation requirements and institutional objectives.
- Manages relationships with external suppliers (e.g., Trousseaux, Introweek).
- Promotes collaboration within communities of practice and contributes to the Academic Board.
- Resolves issues that require coordination with other departments and stakeholders.
- Works closely with other departments within SPA and across the EHL group, including Associate Deans of other programs and campuses, Marketing, HBS, GO, Finance, F&B, AO, etc.
Who you are?
- You have a Master's degree or equivalent.
- You have held the title of senior lecturer for at least 3 years.
- You have 10 to 15 years of working experience, in a similar position a plus.
- You have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- You have the ability to set priorities, analyze information and data, and think systematically from both a detailed and strategic perspective.
- You have strong capabilities in teamwork and collaboration with faculty, administrators, and operational teams in the various hotel and restaurant sectors.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- You have higher education-level teaching experience in your area(s) of expertise.
- You have a record of current and past scholarly professional activities in the practical arts of hospitality.
- You have successful managerial and administrative experience that reflects your ability to implement policies and decisions.
- You have managed a group of at least 30 people over the last 5 years.
- You have French as your mother tongue and are fluent in English (C1). German is a plus.
