The Institute of Cell Biology (ICB) at the University of Bern is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor with tenure track in Quantitative Cell Biology. The successful candidate will investigate molecular processes occurring within and between cells to explore molecular mechanisms across scales in biology. We encourage applicants who combine experimental and theoretical/computational approaches to apply.
The ICB hosts a vibrant and interdisciplinary research community with current research directions in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Genomics, Molecular Parasitology, and Systems Biology and welcomes research across diverse biological systems. Institute of Cell Biology
The successful candidate will have an outstanding research track record commensurate with their career stage, experience in successfully obtaining external funding, and will develop and deliver a modern teaching curriculum in molecular and/or cell biology at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Teaching in German at early undergraduate level is desired after a few years of employment. All teaching at graduate level is in English. The candidate is expected to promote early career researchers and to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
The advertised position includes ample laboratory space, the entire professor's salary, a generous start-up package and continuous core funding for personnel and consumables. The University of Bern has a clear set of guidelines for promotion to tenure after six years in the position. Remuneration is in keeping with the law governing personnel of the canton of Bern.
