Team Leader for Workstation Engineering and Virtualisation at the IT Department

To strengthen its teams and support the evolution of its digital environment, the Information Systems Department (ITD) of the CHUV is seeking a Team Leader for Workstation Engineering and Virtualisation at a workload of 80% to 100%, on a permanent contract. The starting date is planned for 1st December 2026.

Context:

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

Within the Infrastructure Department, the Information Systems Department (ITD) supports the digital transformation of the CHUV to back the clinical, research, teaching, and administrative activities of the institution.

As a team leader, you manage a team of engineers and technicians specialised in workstation technologies, endpoint management, and virtualisation infrastructures. Combining management and technical expertise, you contribute to modernising the digital work environment and ensure the quality of services provided to CHUV staff.

Mission:

• You supervise, support, and develop a team of systems engineers and technicians
• You define and evolve the strategy related to workstations and virtualisation solutions, as well as the associated technical standards
• You ensure the availability, performance, and security of the platforms under your responsibility and contribute to risk management and service continuity
• You provide your technical expertise for projects, major changes, and the resolution of complex incidents
• You lead user environment evolution projects and oversee the lifecycle of services and solutions related to workstations and mobile devices
• You ensure the governance of virtualisation solutions for workstations and applications and participate in defining architectures and technological choices of the ITD
• You collaborate closely with the Infrastructure, Applications, Cybersecurity, and Support teams
• You manage the budget, contracts, and suppliers in your domain, implement performance indicators, and report to management.

Profile:

• You hold a university degree, ETH or HES in computer science, or an equivalent qualification
• You have additional training in management or team leadership
• You have proven experience managing technical teams
• You have at least 10 years of experience in Microsoft infrastructures and workstation engineering
• You have significant experience leading large-scale infrastructure projects within complex environments with high availability and security requirements
• You possess recognised expertise in several technologies, notably Microsoft Windows Enterprise, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Omnissa Horizon, and C# programming.

Depending on the candidate’s profile, the salary grade is between levels 12 and 13.
